THRIVING IN CHAOS
We live in a world characterized by accelerated change, enabled by a technological evolution that is best described as “the age of platforms”. The way we are taught to learn and work is often ill adapted to this new reality. I want to look at what I have learned as a venture capital practitioner and what startups can teach us about dealing with chaos to achieve results, positive outcomes and ultimately personal happiness, rethinking in the process how learn, work and live in this brave new world.
Fred Destin is a partner in at Atlas Venture, the most active technology seed investor in New England. Companies he helped build in Europe include top 30 global website DailyMotion, ecommerce marketplace PriceMinister or leading online real estate site Zoopla. Since moving to the US 3 years ago, Fred has backed over 20 startups, many of them in the Boston area. He is passionale about supporting the startup ecosystem. He is a mentor and investor at Techstars Boston, was a founding investor and board member at the leading pan-European incubator Seedcamp and is an active blogger, startup mentor and angel investor.
